Hi, I’m Fumi, a PhD student in Computational and Systems Immunology at Stanford Medicine . I am interested in studying infectious diseases, particularly those that disproportionately affect underserved populations, with the goal of improving global health outcomes.
My past research topics include:
- Immune evasion in parasitic infections, Trypanosoma brucei and Plasmodium
- Host–pathogen interactions in respiratory infectious disease systems
- Immunometabolic regulation of host defense in Drosophila
Originally from Japan, I earned my B.S. in Computational Biology from Harvey Mudd College and developed hybrid experimental and computational skills at Scripps Research, Johns Hopkins University, and the National University of Singapore.
