Stanford Immunology

Hi, I'm Fumi, a PhD student in Computational and Systems Immunology at Stanford Medicine . My research focuses on infectious diseases — particularly those that disproportionately affect underserved populations — with the goal of advancing global health outcomes.

My past research topics include:

  • Immune evasion in parasitic infections, Trypanosoma brucei and Plasmodium
  • Host–pathogen interactions in respiratory infectious disease systems
  • Immunometabolic regulation of host defense in Drosophila

Originally from Japan, I earned my B.S. in Computational Biology from Harvey Mudd College and developed hybrid experimental and computational skills at Scripps Research, Johns Hopkins University, and the National University of Singapore.

Fellowships:

  • Baker Fellow, Stanford University
  • SoftBank Group Masason Scholar
  • UNIQLO Tadashi Yanai Scholar
  • Recruit Holdings Ezoe Memorial Scholar
